Violinist Janine Jansen has been awarded the ‘Johannes Vermeer Award’ – the Netherlands’ annual state prize for the arts.

It has been announced today that superstar Dutch violinist Janine Jansen has been awarded the prestigious ‘Johannes Vermeer Award’ – the Netherlands’ annual state prize for the arts.

“Her musical interpretations display real genius and gain unanimous admiration and respect from audiences and fellow musicians ….” Jury Chair, Els van der Plas has said.

“Janine’s talent, quality, dedication, commitment, and love for the vocation of violinist make her a true global star … Janine Jansen is also a role model for young musicians,” he has said.

Presented annual by the Netherlands’ Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, the Award money is intended to be used by the winner for a special project in his or her specific field.
